University of Richmond

Planning Your Program

Richmond offers a major and minor through the music program, as well as concentrations in critical studies, performance and theory/composition.

Our curriculum combines a variety of courses with numerous research and experiential learning opportunities to ensure students learn the discipline in both classroom and real-world settings. As a result, Richmond music majors are fully prepared for whatever they choose after graduation—grad school or an immediate career.

The department’s strong curriculum is enhanced by an outstanding array of facilities and resources.

Ensembles and Private Music Lessons

Students may participate in choral and instrumental ensembles as well as private music lessons through the department. Music majors and non-majors are encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities. Private lessons require special registration procedures.
